Revenue without Profit
More work can create more pressure while leaving little additional cash.
The Ascend System · Overview
Ascend connects the choices behind the business with the four operating areas that shape how it grows: Revenue, Profit, Systems and Leadership.
What Ascend is
The Ascend System is Ascendea's operating framework for diagnosing and working on an established service business.
It prevents a visible symptom from being mistaken for the whole problem. An issue that appears to sit in sales may begin with positioning, capacity, margin, delivery or leadership. The Codes make those connections visible.
Sets the commercial logic and decision principles that govern every other Code.
The architecture
The Source Code establishes what the business is trying to become and the choices behind it. The other four Codes examine how those choices perform in practice.
Founder and business foundations, market intelligence, customer understanding, product and service design, positioning, business model and strategy.
↗Connect market strategy, offers, demand, sales, client experience and retention.
Explore Revenue ↗Read price, capacity, mix, cost and cash through one disciplined financial model.
Explore Profit ↗Design roles, processes, technology, controls and operating rhythms for consistent delivery.
Explore Systems ↗Develop the judgement, people leadership, teams and organisational maturity the business requires.
Explore Leadership ↗Why the Codes connect
A business is not a collection of independent departments. Each decision creates consequences somewhere else.
More work can create more pressure while leaving little additional cash.
Processes exist, but decisions and accountability still return to the owner.
The team receives direction without enough clarity about the market, customer or model.
Cost discipline alone cannot resolve an offer, demand or conversion constraint.
How the system is used
The Codes provide a common structure across Ascendea's services. The depth changes, but the operating logic stays connected.
Establish what is happening across the business.
Find the constraint and the Codes connected to it.
Choose the work, sequence and appropriate depth.
